v-tec Alpha

Ventura’s vision of a digital timepiece with a totally intuitive user-concept was first implemented with the v-tec Alpha.

The liquid-crystal display is structured into two rows of digits, the upper row ever showing the time whereas the lower row can be varied by the scroller to show functions such as Alarm, Chronograph, Countdown and a second time zone. The digits are formed by as many as 25 segments (instead of the usual 7 segments) to vastly improve readability and aesthetics.  The movement Caliber VEN_03 - entirely conceived and developed by Ventura - is based on a complex software that enables to browse through the functions with a single central scroller so easily, that the reading of a manual becomes dispensable.

Hannes Wettstein has translated this concept into an ingenious design; a simple bend of the case opens the angle of operation of the scroller whilst protecting it at the same time. The v-tec Alpha is «the mother» of all following Ventura developments and models.
